Golden Pride
Golden Pride has been serving the Albuquerque area since the early 1970’s! As the name implies, they offer golden fried chicken but that’s not all. They’re breakfast burritos are second to none and they also have ribs!!! Click HERE for the entire review!

OVERALL BITES:
Value: Breakfast burritos start at around $3 and go up from there. Lunch meals are a couple more bucks. Their best value probably has to be the rib meal which feeds between 4 to 6 people and comes with ribs and a couple of sides and rolls too for a little over $30.
Taste: This is what keeps me coming back. I don’t usually buy breakfast but when I do it’s more than likely going to be from Golden Pride. Their green chile on the burritos hits the spot every single time.
Presentation: Nothing too fancy. You get your burritos wrapped in paper and in a paper bag. Why fix it if it ain’t broke, right?
Vibe: No matter which Golden Pride you go to, and they have several locations, they’ll be busy during breakfast and lunch time. They are very quick so you won’t wait long. The locals love Golden Pride, that’s for sure!
Accessibility: They are all pretty easy to find and on main streets. The parking isn’t always very big but if you go through the drive thru they’ll get you in and out quickly.
Review – Golden Pride
Ok, it’s taken me a while to finally review Golden Pride. If I’m eating out for breakfast more than likely it’s at Golden Pride. In fact, if I’m having breakfast for lunch it’s more than likely there too. There is something about the simplicity of the food, combined with the green chile in the burritos, that hit the spot every single time. As I’m writing this review, in a hotel room, I’m craving a Golden Pride burrito!
I was in the middle of going from one job to another and decided I would grab some lunch. Golden Pride was on the way and it was right after the lunch rush so I figured I would make a quick pit stop. I ordered my go to at Golden Pride which is the number 1 burrito. It includes egg, potatoes, cheese, and green chile. I was feeling hungrier than normal so I also ordered a taco and paired it with a sweet tea. As of right now not all locations have sweet tea…just fyi.
I took my seat, grabbed my drink, and sat for a couple of minutes. My number was called and I went to the counter to grab my paper sack of lunch heaven. You can see from the pictures that the presentation is as simple as it gets. My food was wrapped in paper and served in a paper bag. The taco seemed a bit bigger than what you would get at one of the big chain places so I decided to try that first. I have to tell you, I was a bit disappointed that the salsa I got was a La Victoria plastic packet. The taco itself was on a fried taco shell which was very crispy, and it was stuffed with ground beef, lettuce, and cheese. The flavor was pretty darn good. The crispiness was perfect and the salsa packet wasn’t as bad as I thought.
Next up was what I was looking forward to. The number 1 breakfast burrito has become a great morning companion. The warmth of the homemade flour tortillas in your hands warms you all the way through on a cold Albuquerque morning. That’s not the best part though. As you bite into the burrito your mouth explodes with the cheesiness and the full flavor of the green chile. Once again, Golden Pride did not disappoint. The burrito was great from the first bite to the last.
I’m sure you’ve seen Golden Prides throughout the city. If you haven’t had the fortune of stopping by and trying their food then you’re missing out. Regardless of what you have, the burritos the chicken or the ribs, you’ll be glad you stopped.
Golden Pride gets 4.5 Bites!!! I love everything about Golden Pride. The staff all have that old diner look to their attire and they’re always super friendly. Their locations can look a bit dated but the food is what sets them apart.
