OVERALL BITES:
Value: Fajitas-A-Sizzlin offers all of their fajita plates for 2 people. Keeping that in mind then the prices don’t seem to bad. Chicken fajitas for two ran roughly $23.
Taste: This is where Fajitas-A-Sizzlin excelled! The onions, the peppers, the chicken were amazing. You’ll also love the homemade tortillas!
Presentation: The great thing about fajitas is that the more you pile them on the better they look. Fajitas-A-Sizzlin piled them on and they looked amazing!
Vibe: There were only a few tables taken when I arrived around 7pm. Having said that, they have plenty of seating and the staff was very attentive and friendly.
Accessibility: Fajitas-A-Sizzlin is off the Black Canyon Highway going North. They are in between an Outback Steakhouse and a Sweet Tomatoes. Across the I-17 you’ll see the Metro Mall.
Review – Fajitas-A-Sizzlin
There is one great thing about traveling for work. Well, a few, but the best has to be trying new local restaurants. I found myself in Phoenix once again and, just my luck, the Waste Management Phoenix PGA Golf tournament was also in town. The hotel I booked was a little out of my way since most places were sold out and I didn’t think that $200 a night was a good use of company money.
Monday night came around and with it my appetite. I didn’t feel like driving too far from my hotel so I decided to give Fajitas-A-Sizzlin a try. I pulled up a little after 7pm and there didn’t seem to be many people in the parking lot. When I walked in I was seated quickly and that’s when I noticed there were only about 3 tables occupied. Seemed strange for such a nice, and big, restaurant. Like I said though, the PGA even was in town.
I cracked open the menu and found the fajitas starting at roughly $23 per plate! Now, it was a bit of a shock to me but then I read a note that said most fajitas will feed two people. Fajitas-A-Sizzlin also offers other Mexican food but being at a fajita place I had to try the fajitas. I ordered the chicken fajitas and an iced tea.
Chips and salsa were brought to the table along with my drink within a couple of minutes. The basket of chips was enough to fill me up so I had to pace myself. The salsa was pretty tasty though, and you got quite a bit of it, so it was hard to not keep dipping. Another few minutes and the fajitas came out. Let me tell you, the fajitas were in fact sizzlin’!!! They smelled delicious, they looked even better (once I saw them clearly through the steam and sizzle), and to top it off they were served with homemade tortillas!
I could have used a few more peppers but once you added the onions, the cheese, the pico, the cream and the lettuce I didn’t really miss them. The chicken was juicy and seasoned perfectly and this skillet could have fed two people. Since I was alone I had to man up and tackle the skillet on my own! I’m sorry to report that I simply could not finish them on my own. The server was kind enough to bring me a box and I enjoyed the fajitas again the following evening!
So, let’s get right to it. Fajitas-A-Sizzlin gets 4.5 Bites! The fajitas tasted great, the location was good and the service was also amazing. I had a few issues. The first was that the fajitas were sizzlin’ so much my jacket smelled of them even the next day. The other was that the toppings were so packed into a small plate that when I tried to prep my fajita I couldn’t help but make a mess. Maybe a bit bigger plate or a little less toppings on the small plate would help. The price also seemed a bit high but then again the fajitas skillet is meant for two.
I have already recommended Fajitas-A-Sizzlin to a few friends and they loved it. Check them out for yourselves and tell us what you think. Visit their Website and check them out on Facebook.
