Ernie’s Cafe – Start to a great week!
1506 N. Zaragosa Rd. El Paso, TX 79936
Overall Bites: 4.5 Bites
Value: $9 for 3 well stuffed green enchiladas, hash browns, refried beans and over easy eggs? YES!!
Taste: Breakfast is always so good. Whether it’s just pancakes or a meal like this one. The enchiladas were so creamy and cheesy. The hash browns were golden brown and salted well. I was in heaven this morning.
Presentation: Presentation was good as you can see in the picture. The enchiladas were nicely rolled and tucked in well. The eggs were placed neatly on top of them. The hash browns were presented nicely and were toasted to a golden color.
Vibe: Ernie’s Cafe is a great place to start off any day! Music is good, people are always in a great mood and you can see how happy customers are with their food.
Accessibility: A lot of restaurants I go to are off of Zaragosa! It’s a super long road but this place is also very easy to find!
After a very long weekend there is nothing better than to start it off with a Mexican brunch! We had a birthday party for a four year old on Sunday and a very busy Saturday so we didn’t get much rest. Monday came and we couldn’t have been happier about a Monday arriving. Weird, right? After a couple of conference calls and cleaning up we decided to go for breakfast which turned into brunch because it was almost 11! Ernie’s Cafe was the place to be!
Upon entering, the staff was very attentive in sitting us right away. We sat and our server came to take our drink order. Coffee, water and orange juice – makes me want a coffee right now actually. As we looked at the menu we looked around and I have never really noticed how big this place is! They have about 40 tables with 4 chairs each and they’re usually pretty busy too!
I had Eggs and Enchiladas. Eggs of your choice served over a bed of green or red cheese/chicken enchiladas with hash browns and refried beans on the side. Before our food came out they served complimentary chips and salsa. Let me tell you a little something about that salsa. It was HOT! Hotter than most. We were trying to figure out if it was long green chile or jalapeños. Turns out they were jalapeños, so be careful with this one.
Our food finally came out and I can’t tell you how mouth watering it looked as I took pictures. I couldn’t wait any longer and thats why I only ended up with one picture. I dug in immediately and I took a bite from the hash browns and fell in love. Crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle. They give you a choice on the enchiladas, cheese or chicken and red or green. I chose green chicken and I am glad I did! These guys weren’t stingy with their chicken at all and they were covered in cheese! Kudos to them! The creamy green chile sauce was amazing. Had just a good spicy kick to them that went well with the over easy eggs.
Ernie’s gets 4.5 Bites from me! The reason for that was only due to the fact that when I was ordering for my kid they didn’t really have a breakfast menu for them. I tried asking my server but she didn’t really know what to respond. Other than that I think this place is great for breakfast lunch and dinner! They have a daily lunch special and it’s amazing. Also have live music Friday and Saturday! Check them out soon!
